Hello
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157281 - Motherboard
Motherboard has latest bios.
I have been having issues with my AsRock 990FX Extreme3 motherboard. Last week, I thought it was my graphics card (XFX Radeon 7870 2 GB) that was giving me problems. I tested the card in another system and it won't boot. XFX said that they will RMA. I got make sure that card is in original condition as I had to take use a 3rd party fan on it to cool it.
My case is Coolermaster CM-690 II.
I bought a new graphics card (EVGA 4 GB GTX 760) that has been tested and works.
A few days later...my EVGA card is having problems booting. I thought that their is no way it could be the card. It turns out I was right. It is the PCI-E slot. Probably so many times of figuring out the XFX card was the culprit listed above. Meanwhile, the computer case clips that hold the graphics card in place was broke. I had used screws instead, but they weren't so tight to offset the card. I used a different PCI-E slot this time where the computer case clips were not broke. Everything seemed okay.
Now the last few days for my computer to boot properly, I have to open my case and carefully re-seat the EVGA card. I guarantee that that is not a smart idea. I don't want the EVGA card to damage from being re-seated so many times.
MY 3rd PCI-E SLOT is blocked off by my 950 Powersupply / PSU. It was not my idea to buy the psu because it was a gift. The graphics card is also too wide to fit the slot.
I am guessing I should get a new motherboard, but is that what I want to do?
When I bought the motherboard, I also got a 3-year warranty replacement through newegg on it. I plan on replacing it, but I also wanted other thoughts.
