I have a customer here at work running an Optiplex 745 with an HP iPaq HX2790B PDA. The 745 is running our corporate version of Windows 7. He has a laptop on which the PDA works fine that also has 64-bit Windows7.

HP Documentation says that the iPaq is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit, but it won't recognize. I've installed driver updates, WMDC 6.1, Sync Center, all to no avail. Is there some secret to making this work?

Hey, we are still issuing 745's as new machines!

I also have that iPaq and had to jump through hoops to get it to work on 7x64. I will try to remember reinstall it when I get home to see what I did to get it to work.

Also, here's what I've done:

-hard reset
-updated any drivers possible.
-tried it out with a different computer

i notice that there's a ? in the device manager under "HP USB Sync". If I try and update the driver, it errors out every time.

I was able to get it working by blowing away all of the old install stuff.

Downloaded the Windows Mobil Device Center package HERE

When you first launch WMDC, you have to set up the connection, i selected usb, unchecked bluetooth, etc.

Then with the device connect (it still should show it not connected, even though it is) unlock the device. I had to hard reboot mine first. After an unlock it connected.
