I have had a heck of a time traking down what I need to have in order to access the BIOS via network. Here is what I have found - please correct me if I am wrong. I'm not sure if the LAN connection is important but I found that the Intel I217LM supports v-Pro functions (KVM) from what i have read and don't know if there are others that do as well.

Q87 mobo chipset
Intel v-Pro compatible CPU.
Intel I217LM Lan Chipset

I am looking for the lowest price CPU that will support this function as well as the lowest price Xeon that will do this. Can anyone help me find what is currently offered that fits these requirements? I've checked ark.intel revision 9 and fine different results based on the site and intel's site has had conflicting reports. Is there any "OFFICIAL" place to fine out what is legit or not?

v-Pro is a blanket term - the KVM part of it is just one small portion. The remote KVM is also dependent on the motherboard's BIOS, and a lack of a graphics card (if you have one, IIRC the remote KVM gets disabled).

If you're only looking for IPMI/OOB management, plenty of motherboards support that, and you don't need the CPU to support it per se. Your ask here is a little unclear though, so I'm not sure I grasp what you're attempting to do.
