Well, it is nearly 34 years later, so I would expect things to have moved on somewhat.

Hmmmmm. Interesting. Consumer HDDs that were considered "High end drives" in the mid 1980's were around 120 MEGA-bytes in size and cost $5000.

But yeah, HDD are 1,000,000x times cheaper ($/size) wise then they were 30 years ago.
 
I remember my very first 1gb drive I wanna say like 1990 or 1991 maybe? I really thought I was the shit.
 
I remember seeing my first HDD in a PC. It was 10 meg if I remember right, and it "was all the space you'll ever need". :)

I think that was about 1985 or so. My first PC was just a single floppy, and a whopping 128k memory.

i remember when my parents bought my brother a 512mb flash drive for $99 back in probably 2005. O and he lost it or it was stolen.
 
Oh I remember getting our first Windows PC. It was a Gateway and I thought its 10.2GB hard drive was the shit.

The stupid PC locked up within 5 minutes of turning it on and the POS refused to work for long. Gateway did repair after repair after repair for six months, replaced every component along the way, and eventually exchanged the desktop for another model. I don't remember what we ended up doing with it ... I think after a few years we sold it.

Ah, memories ...
 
As a kid I got a few years old 286 desktop with a 40MB drive, it was enough for DOS6 and a few games (the main one being Civilization, it took a whopping four 1.44MB floppies !). Then my mother broke the bank and bought a brand new Pentium 100 with Windows 95 (the first one with the countless bugs and no USB support), it had a 1GB drive, when I told this to my professor of technology in junior high he was like "that's pointless I could never fill that". Of course he was very wrong.
 
My first hard drive was 80MB, and remember having a 500MB SCSI HD in my 386 back in the late 90's when I bought a star trek game that came on 40 floppies, it took almost 5 hrs to install and the graphics were laughable by today's standards.Anyone remember installing office 3.1 when it came on 50 floppies?

No, but I still have like 8 floppys that was Windows 3.1.
