I am playing crysis warhead and during heavy scenes, I get sudden flashes of black screens.

I am not sure what hte problem is, but is it because I have Vsync on and the frame rate drops below 60 in these scenes causing the sudden flashes of black screens?

Not sure....

well did you try it without vsync? also unless you have some uber rig or youre playing at 1024 then you are going to be below 60 fps almost the whole time you are playing.

I've never seen or heard of vsync causing black screen flashing. If you don't have triple buffering enabled, it can cause your framerate to drop in half if the FPS dips below your refresh rate, but it shouldn't cause black flashing.

I usually play Crysis with Vsync off because with that game it causes slower framerates because of the way Vsync works. But I've never heard of it doing that before.

the flashes come at random times (during the heavy scenes). they also come at different intervals and show no patterns. When things are calmer, it never happens nor has it happened with any other game.

my EVGA 8800gt is running at 85*C....
