I tried dual booting Vista x64 on a spare partition on my system which is running Vista 32bit. For a long while last year I was running XP and some beta of Vista to check it out. After I did a CPU upgrade I dove into it and Vista is running alright on my system.
My system:
AMD X2 5600+
Asus 570 SLI mobo
2 gigs ram
SB Xfi Music
Couple of large HDs
Ok so that's not a super accurate listing (sortof in a rush atm) but my problem was when I tested a couple of things on x64 they weren't as fast as x86. WoW was one and say having AVG scan your system while WoW is playing on my x86 system doesn't slow down barely at all while this operation on x64 was much more noticible, almost unusable.
Am I missing something here? I grabbed the Nvidia video and mobo drivers and let Windows Update do a couple of installs. Maybe it's too many 32 bit drivers like Creative Labs Xfi (grr) or maybe it's just the performace of x64 is fine and that's just the difference?
Any thoughts?
