Is this still the best way to make a 2P/4P Ubuntu box scream along with BOINC?

Just went through a bit of a disaster trying to upgrade the Ubuntu provided client to the latest one from Berkeley.. that didn't go so well.
Was able to follow those instructions and have the afflicted box back up and running; but wanted to check and see if there were any improvements since.
