I've just been trying to find the best of the best internet security tools / software based firewalls and have used a few different ones.
But I'm finding different places have very different results. For instance, toptenreviews.com has Bitdefender Internet Security as number 1

But the April edition of PC magazine has BitDender Internet Security very low on all categories tested. PC magazine also has Norton Internet Security 2007 as Editors Choice.

Who is more believable ? PC Magazine right
Are there anymore more thorough testing places ?

Also, right now I'm using Norton Internet Security 2007 after years of hating their products and it seems pretty efficient.

Anybody with years of wisdom beyond me have any input ?

I personally think these boards right here are more trustworthy than any magazine you can buy.. Search this forum and you will find that,

a) NIS is not very highly regarded around here
b) NOD32 is, and for good reason
c) If free is what floats your boat AVG and Avast and AntiVir seem to be well liked

There is a ton of good information right here, all you have do is search for it, you will find what you need.

NOD32 ftw!!!

Norton products will only encounter adReviews and recommendations to avoid it at all costs. And in my recent experience, customers that had BitDefender installed ended up with a lot of unnecessary services running, entirely too much RAM usage after the boot, and a slow boot in the first place. I used to think Norton AV or NIS was bad, then I found a few people using BitDefender and, well, you figure it out from there.

NOD32 is my favorite by far. It's lightweight, has terrific detection, and is updated several times per day. Norton hasn't impressed me for years, the home version tends to be bloated and the detection is sub-par in my experience. Even at work we use the Corporate version, and have had several virus outbreaks when some less-than-knowledgeable user would blindly open an attachment, it failed to either stop it, or detect it due to slow updates.

I agree that these forums are your best source for reviews, you have to be careful with certain review sites, even some magazines, as a lot of them give the highest marks to whomever gives them the largest reason ($$$) to promote their product.

Thanks for the input guys.
Please don't get me wrong, I'm no noob to these things.
I've used AVG and Nod32 together with a ZoneAlaram Pro firewall for years.
But just looking around and exploring other products for a few different reasons these days.
And I also I have found a few viruses with the newest Norton Internet Security that I didn't ever find with
Nod32 or AVG.(Keygen) "Yes, it surprised the hell out of me too". I have thought Norton had sucked for more then a few years now.
I haven't used anything Norton since like 2001-2002. But I like to give different/revised products a chance every so long to see if things change.
I also found it to be a plus that I'm fully stealthed automatically when I installed Norton. ZoneAlram has to be set to stealth and it sometimes messes
with torrent speed. Norton did not mess up my torrents speed. It also doesn't feel as heavy as it used to. And this is coming from someone who always demoted Norton to everyone.

Anybody got any quality antivirus/firewall review sites ?

Am I mistaken, Nod32 doesn't protect you from attacks/hacks/spyware.
Just viruses and now some rootkits, right ?
But yes, I agree that Nod32 is the best as far as light weight and fast.
But I'm not pro enough to know if it actually finds every virus thrown at it. And I hate viruses.

thanks for the input
thanks for your time
