Is this safe?

So my video card(evga6800gt) runs a little hotter then what I'd like so what I did is I took the fan off of my stock hsf and put it on stilts so that it maybe 2 inches from the fan on my video card. Now besides from more dust is there any reason this isnt safe, maybe some kind of magnetic charge that the fan puts off? It is from the retail hsf from my a64 3400+ so, I dont think that it would cause any problems. Please correct me if I'm wrong, thanks!

I don't know how effective that is, but it is not dangerous.

Actually its about 2-3c cooler, which isnt much, but still every little bit helps.
