Here's the deal. I have an older 15" Compaq FP700 LCD DFP monitor. I have an adapter coming in the mail so that I can hook it up to my DVI port. My uncle used to use this monitor, but the power board inside of it died. I got a "for parts" FP700 off ebay, and swapped out the power board. Here's where the question comes in. My uncle is fairly electronically knowledgable, and he made a power adapter for this monitor. It has a power brick from an igloo mini fridge. The brick puts out 6A. Could this have killed the old power board, or was it probably just age? The monitor draws 2.5A. I don't want to hook this monitor up for a long time, only to have the power adapter kill another power board. I have quickly powered up the monitor, and it powers up just fine, but i dont want to kill my new monitor.
