Hi guys I have a quick question. I was looking to add some case fans to my existing case, but figured that instead of buying a dremel and a hole saw, it would just be much cheaper to buy a new case.

I am thinking about this case: ASPIRE Turbo Case X-Dreamer Black Mid-Tower Case with 350W Power Supply, Model "ATXB3KLW/350W"

My problem is the power supply. I really dont want to spend any more money. I currently have a 300W supply in my current case running a 2.53ghz P4, Asus P4b533-v mobo, with 2 WD HDs, and 2 DVD-Roms, and it seems to work fine.

Will 350W be enough to run the 3 fans, my system, and oc to about 3.0 ghz? Thanks for ur help.
 
If you didn't have alot in the system 250-300w would be enough for that. I would get a good 350w PSU though. Your concern shouldn't be how big the PSU is but what brand. A generic which is what will be in that case isn't worth a penny. There is a new PSU Faq i just wrote at the top of this forum also so check it out.
 
ok thannks. Ill check the faq. But I was particularly concerned w/ the PSU that comes with the case I stated about. Ud have to click on the link t osee the PSU. So I was concerned if that PSU was any good?
 
Chances are itll run fine for years. Most computers come with generic psu's, and most computers dont have problems with them.

If there were mass defect rates on them, they wouldnt be used so frequently in large oem pcs. (the thought of selling 1 million pcs and having 100k returns from bad psu's is staggering)

You may have a bad one in a bunch, but youll have that no matter the name on the box.

Thats not to say it isnt better to have a higher quality psu. Just that for most people it wont matter.
 
thansk wixard. But I want to OC my cpu. So would the 350W that comes with the case be enough for all that.
 
Everytime you OC ... you know for a fact that the system is stressed ... reason why picking the right parts is important ...

It involved luck though ... so give it a shot ... if it did not work ... then get a better one ...

Even overclocked, 300w would most likely be plenty for that setup. I would get the 350w PSU though.

Also, if generic PSU's were good and there wasn't problems with them then the PSU wouldn't be one of the leading causes of all hardware failures and unstable systems. I just saw a concensus on it and the percentage was shocking. It was something like 45% back several years ago and its grown since then. Generic power supplies are shit. I dont care how many systems somebody has thats running them and they work fine. I've got a few myself. That does not mean they are good though. If you measured the voltage regulation on them i bet it would be horrible under heavy stress. And overclocking will put quite a bit more stress on the PSU as the CPU draws more power then any other device in the system. Dont screw around with power supplies and getting some generic unless you've got enough money to buy a whole new system in six months when you come on Hard and post a thread saying "My computer wont post, whats wrong with it".

OEM machines dont get overclocked and OEM machines usually only have the bare necessities. Most dont even come with more then 1 HDD and 1 or 2 optical drives.
