Is this Pump worth anything?

..looks a bit cheapp....
Better buy one reliable pump then waste money on potential junk that not only can it degrade performace but fail and cause more damage
 
I ran one in my PC for a few months, not a bad pump for the money. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to make the thing start after modding the impeller (You have to epoxy the impeller blades to the body so the self starter won't clatter) but it's pretty damned quiet. It does have a heavy drone that it'll impart to anything your PC is setting on. If your PC is sitting on a concrete slab floor with carpet you'll never know it's there.
 
What do you mean clatter, like make a little noise on startup? I can deal, trust me my AC runs 24/7 so im use to noise and my computer sounds like a jet already anyway. I just dont exatly get what you mean on that, but does it pump like it said it does.
 
its a Via Aqua 1300, do a search on here and on google and you'll get plenty of topics.
 
Seems like really good reviews on it for what the price is! BTW a lil off topic but im lookin at a 00 Honda Civic HX right now, hows it drive.
 
I ran that pump in two different systems for over a year with no problems at all. I never had a noise problem, and the only reason I switched it so I could use a 12v pump.

BTW, I have a PCI slot relay that works well with that pump and the pump. PM if interested.
 
Personally? My Via Aqua 1300 died after about...4 hours of use :(

Pretty disheartening when it's your first WC setup :p

Purchased an Eheim 1250, and while it's a behemouth, it runs almost completely silent and moves a lot of water.

Everyone gets the odd lemon now and again. That doesn't mean the pump's a crappy pump, you just got unlucky. As to the clatter it was not a slight clatter, rather it was pretty bad, bad enough that I ripped the pump out of my loop and modded the impeller.

D-Tek sold this pump for a while but they pre-modded the impeller, mine was one of thiers but the epoxy had started peeling so I dug it out and freed up the self starter thinking "It'll be nice not having to dick with it to get it going" boy was I wrong.
 
meh .. get an eheim you'll never know its there unless you start to run low on water.. (it makes on hell of a racket if bubbles are in the system ) but once there gone you'll never hear it..

i acctually will leach a littel air into the system every so often to check for flow as better than half of my loop isnt visible and this thin wall tygon seems to kink pretty easly... im runing 3/8 tube on 1/2 barbs right now do to a shipping order that acctually turned out to be a blessing in disguise... the inside diameter of the 3/8 tygon is exactly the same inside diameter as 1/2 hose barbs used on dangerdens blocks, meaning there is no pressure drop on the outside of the block as it gose from the smaller barb to the larger hose ( i used to run the larger hose, when a bubble is in the system, it moves MUCH faster in the smaller tubeing)

the seconed plus... is that i no longer need hose clamps.. the hose fits so tightly i will have to cut it off if i ever want to change it out, i had to heat the hose and use olive oil to lube it on... draining and refill is a bit of a pain, i have to twist the barbs off one of the blocks and count how many turns it takes to get the barb out, and then i have to pre twist it to put it back on again for refill (perhaps a drain port is in order... but im lazy) il have to get pictures up soon.. it looks nice with no clamps

any way, leaching the air into the system will make the pump make noise for a few mins, lets me know its working..

I went through 2 Via Aqua 1300s before also switching to an Eheim 1250. Both the 1300s lasted less than a year, both became noisy and eventually stopped (reliably) turning on with my computer. No problem with the Eheim after a few years, so far...

Yeah, my Eheim was exactly the same. Still works like a charm to this day, and I'm sure it will continue to work :p
 
I went through two of those pumps, first died under a year of use and the second just became to unreliable and loud. Never again. They are pretty good for the first few months, quiet, reliable, etc. After that the pump became unreliable. When I unplugged it and replugged it back in, for various reasons, it wouldn't start up. I would have to hit the side of it a lot to get it started. The noise continually got worse over time. They even drowned out my delta and a 120x38 high CFM fan.

The inlet casing is poorly designed. The connection points are weak and broke on both of mine. The second was crack w/in days of recieving it. And no I didn't crack it trying to put it back on. It cracked while it was running. I had to use plumbers goop and totally cover the area where the inlet casing and pump connected.

I finally replaced the second with a Swiftech MCP655. And WOW it is totally silent. So much I just put another one in my wife's PC.
 
Im lookin at the Mag pump now, little bit more yet alot more quality. Which one should I get for just the cpu, will 250GPH be enuff? Or 350GPH?

Sadly, I got the CSP-Mag from DangerDen...and that pump died very shortly after setting the loop up. I'm sure that I again just got a bad one. It wasn't a bad pump by any means, it just, you know, died...
 
Hey ,those pumps will get you by for a while,i had no trouble with any of mine,
they arent to bad.you can doo the "silent mod" to them found on watercooling101 com.
*but do yourself a favor and by from american aquarium products.com ,you will save 5 bucks and get a 6 month warranty, versus that ebay junk.
they only cost 16.95 plus 695 shipping at the aquarium shop.
not $19.95 plus $8 dollars shipping seems kinda like a rip to me.hope that helps
 
I have a Via Aqua 1300 that pump bought from that guy on Ebay and it works great.... it has been running for 2 months I did the super glue mod you can find to quite it down. I am going to use to 2 in series to increase the head... it only have 6' of head so not great but add 2 and you get about 9' which is decent.


I'd go for it.... $20 its cheap... it does leak some, so use RTV silicone or something to seal the intake and becareful not to tighten the barbs to much b/c it will break the housing.... I did it :) be patient and it will like you :D

I like it but may upgrade to the DD D5 or the small pump they have 12v.....

Really heard all the horrer stories but havent had one yet
