Is this possible?

I'm using the stock intel HSF with my E6600 with no thermal paste (just the preapplied stuff that came with the cpu) with just 2x 120mm fans and the temp is below room temperature. Looky here:
Stocktemps.jpg

My room temp is about 74F, the cpu idles at 69F according to this reading? wtf? I've heard of sensors being unrealisticly high before, but not unbelievbly low. I touched the heatsink and it seemed pretty cool to me. How far off could the sensor be?

its 109 degrees, look right above it. I think the program just swapped the temps not knowing what is what.

it depends on how many bushels per furlong your power supply gets, as well as how many foot poundels of pixels you have on your video card.

come on its 2006 everything remotely technical uses metric.
if you are such a Luddite that you "don't believe in metric" maybe you ought to smash up your computer with ye olden sledge hammer.

j/k :)

Even though I used standard in my post, i'd have to agree.

Metric is so much easier than our system, beats me why we never switched over. >.<

I am laughing now.

I used english because I don't know know what my room temp is in f, but I usually cite comp temps in c. ;)

I have a Pentium D 940 that operates at 20 C idle and 27 C at full load. I am using stock cooling. I have used Sandra, Asus Probe, and something that starts with Ever. They all say the same thing. So if my Pentium D can do this than your Conroe can most certianly do it. I know someone in here is going to say that I am crazy, but your not setting in front of the computer that I am at. :p

And for YOUR information, it was meant in humor. Try it sometime.
