stock of 204 mhz, 2-3-3-10-1T (used everest for these tests):

latency 50.0 ns
read 3149 MB/s
write 1183 MB/s

oc to 225 mhz, 2.5-3-3-10-2T

latency 55.2 ns
read 3416 MB/s
write 1271 MB/s

is it better to have lower lat or higher read/write? i know cpu performs better with that boost of 225 mhz.

I'd say it's better to have the speed over the latency. From what i've read, latency doesn't play that big of a role in game performance (this varries some depending on the CPU... A64, Athlon XP, P4, etc..) due to architecture. But i'd say a good rule of thumb is squeeze the most speed you can out of it, and don't worry about latency so much.
 
What ultimately matters is speed (to a reasonable extent). Latency does not vary much, but speed does. A good jump in memory clock speed usually yields a nice jump in memory bandwidth (speed) and a small increase in latency.

I think most everybody on here will tell you the same thing. It's speed that matters, latency is of secondary priority.
 
Nope, latency does matter, the difference between 1T or 2T (if thats what your refering to as latency) but this can be overcome with an overclock in FSB of 15+mhz at the higher latency. Basically put running your fsb @ 200mhz at a latency of 1T is equal to a 215mhz FSB at 2T latency. I believe there was an article at xbit labs explaining this (too lazy to source it) you don't have to take my word for it, just search on google for "cpc on vs cpc off" you should find the article there somewhere.
 
1t and 2t are command rates, not latencies.

the latency i'm talking about is what you get from the bm in everest. don't know exactly what it means, only that i've heard its important
