I have an EVGA Geforce GTX 480 I got for $200 it seemed like a steal to me and I'm quite happy with the card. The thing is I can pull good FPS with it (30 FPS on Metro 2033 with 1680 x 1050, my max resolution, 4xAA and 16xAF)(50 FPS on Vindictus with the same settings) but it gets hot, really hot; 80 C under load and idles at about 38 C - 45 C despite having 3 case fans blowing on it. Shouldn't the temps be lower why aren't my case fans cooling it very much (I tried it with and without fans, made no difference).
 
Yeah, I ran them in sli, and 80 is really the norm for a normal case. What I ended up doing was using zipties to mount a 100cfm 120mm fan right under my 5.25" drive bay blowing right on the cards from the front intake of my case, dropped the temps by 8 ish degrees.
 
80C is pretty normal for a GTX 480. You can also look into an aftermarket cooler for it - I had a Zalman VF3000 on mine, and it knocked the temps down into the 60s while still being quieter than my case fans.
 
I also bought the 480 at the $200 point. The price performance is amazing, but the card is really hot and consequently very loud.

Those temps are perfectly normal for that card. Keep it under 90C to be safe, but those cards are rated for ~100C
