so I got the superoverclocked evga gtx 470 with the intel quad 3.0ghz and 6gig of memory with my antec 650 neopower
I uninstall the old card and drivers/software and did driver sweep
and then install the newest nvidia driver
I noticed most of the games I am getting maybe 10 more frames per sec
esp on starcraft 2 everything on maxed playing on 1080p I might be getting 10 more frames than my old 8800gts 512mb 92
then my 3dmark vantage
I am getting cpu scoreof 31671 amd graphic scores of 9940
and in ffxiv I only improved 1000 pts vs. the old card with everything set high is that normal?
on the side note my games are stuttering now.

check your temps while your playing.. make sure its not overheating and throttling the card..

some games auto config to the best setting your card can muster. Maybe, I know it's a long shot but maybe this is why you're seeing small increases in FPS. Otherwise, the above suggestion is totally plausible. Also ensure you're not experiencing fps limitations via vsync.

This sounds like a bad card. I remember the first 470 GTX, I had issues where it was performing the same or worse than my previous card (275 GTX.) The card wasn't overheating nor throttling. I couldn't figure it out. All I knew was the card's performance wasn't right.

Ended up being a bad card. I noticed artifacts in windows which I posted in the following threads. With your card versus an 8800GT I'm getting the same vibe.

Id say its your CPU. 3.0 is low. I upgraded from a q6600 3.0 to a i7 920 @ 3.6, and received a 10-20 FPS increase in most games while I was still using a 280 GTX. But thats just me. Maybe try to OC to 3.6 if possible?

contacted evga ran some tests they had it seems to be working normally.. they also said it might be the cpu bottleneck though
however I thought higher the res the less likely the bottleneck would be, I am running it on the 1080p setting
then again I thought quad vs. i7 is some what comparable in gaming? I mean 3.0ghz quad is about a i7 2.6ghz~

thanks for those screenshots
I personally think that 9000 for gtx 470 for the gpu score for 3dmark is crazy low

IMO it's normal for your CPU, my 260's hit 17k in sli on my Q9400. So when I was running in non-sli I would score around 8-9k roughly IIRC. So for your CPU and for the 470 that hit's 17k on a proper setup that 9k seems reasonable due to the bottle neck.

geesh, could not imagine a 3.0ghz quad can be a bottleneck
yeah I have been reading up that 4.0ghz i7 oced is when the bottleneck gets lifted.

This advice is all nonsense. There are bottlenecks and then there are bottlenecks. In the grand scheme of things, C2Q@3 is a minor impediment.

Your card is defective. No way that you should be straining to see the difference between 8800GT and GTX 470. 10 FPS higher in SC2 at same settings? And you said it was stuttering...Yeah, it's fucked.

Matrices,

then again sc2 is a directx9 game? you really think my card is fucked up?

Why would that matter? You used the same settings, right? There is no game I can think of that should run only 10 FPS faster on a GTX 470 compared with an 8800 GT assuming the same settings.

A 470 should be 75% to 100% faster - 1.75 to 2x as fast. Run some benchmarks from other games and benchmark utilities and compare the numbers.

what are some benchmarks I should be running and see if my gtx 470 is matching up against the potential

You're really gonna have nothing to compare benches to since no one is going to bench on a lower end system with a higher end card. IMHO if you have someone local to you with an i7 setup go and see if they will bench the 470 for you and see what happens.

He can benchmark against himself - you still have the 8800GT lying around, right?

Run 3D Mark, Heaven 2.0, Batman benchmark (if you have the game), and Furmark.

Go to the EVGA forums and find the 3dVantage 470 thread. See if there is someone there with around the same CPU specs and compare their results.

I did a lot of overclocking comparisons and got almost 7k increase in score from 3dvantage when overclocking my i7-920 to 3.6Ghz. 10k when pushing it to 4Ghz
