Is this how to overclock?

I'm sure "how to overclock" is a familiar question. Apparently the search button doesn't work.

I have p4c800, p4 2.8c sl6z5, 2x512mb PC3500 Mushkin BH5's. I'm using stock HS&F, yup because this is my first PC build and I wanted to keep things simple. I would like to do a mild overclock. These are my settings that are stable at this time:

2-2-3-6-8 performance mode: auto
CPU ext freq. 200;
Dram freq: 400
AGP/PCI freq: 66.66/33.33
CPU Vcore voltage: 1.525
DDR Ref Voltage: 2.85
AGP VDDQ Voltage: 1.6
Performance mode: auto

To overclock this slightly I understand that it is best to gradually increase the FSB at 5mhz increments then check for stability with memtest. However the CPU external freq. doesn't seem to be manually configurable in 5mhz increments. Yet, the AI Overclock Tuner gives the me options to overclock by 5%; 10%, 20% and 30%. Is this where the overclocking takes place and if so how and what is being automatically adjusted in the cpu ext. freq. etc. etc.?

thanks

Set the bottom Performance mode to Expert. Now you should be able to increase or decrease your front side bus.

yea don't use the AI overclock. that's no fun
set it to "manual" from "standard" under the "jumperfree condiguration" submenu of the "Advanced" screen.
fsb, voltage, dram speed, ram voltage all that good stuff is there for you to mess with, oh yea don't forget to lock PCI bus

so basically start backwards of what i said
