is this HD any good?

I like my Hitachi drives. I have a 250GB T7K250, does a great job as a boot/programs drive.

I might buy that HDD. I've heard bad things about Hitachi though. It's damn cheap though.

Where did you hear the bad things about Hitachi? Newegg reviews?

Hitachi is the third largest HD maker (behind Seagate and WD) and HGST has the luxury of being backed by the huge finanical resources of Hitachi, as well as as a partial stake with IBM.

Newegg's shipping butchers hard drives, no suprise that customers come back and post negative reviews.

Knocks on Hitachi drives? They don't offer advance warranty replacement (never had to RMA a Hitachi drive though), and they don't offer a 16MB buffer on a drive smaller than 500GB until the T7K500 hits the street.
