Is this enough power?

Check my sig for system.... am putting a thermaltake WC kit on it... Will an Antec True430 be enough juice?

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I figured it would be best to consolidate threads since we both are looking at the same power supply (Antec Truepower 430W).

I'm wondering if this PSU is good enough for my computer (not all that great, see below):

P4 2.4 GHz CPU
ECS P4VXASD2+ 4x AGP 533 FSB
1 GB PC2100 DDR
eVGA 6600GT
160 GB Hard Drive WD 7200 RPM
60 GB Hard Drive 7200
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
Leadtek WinFast TV/FM Multimedia Recording Card
DVD Drive
CD-RW Drive
Floppy

If this is against the rules, I'll edit it out. Otherwise, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

I think that the antec would be ideal for ur system mate... Reason i ask, is im installing WC and im overclocking my A64 and a 6800GT... both power hungry animals

As a noobie to overclocking, does my system have a chance to overclock?

I know that my Mobo is notorious for overheating, so I removed a side panel and stuck a huge external fan to help with the air flow (many others have done the same with this particular mobo). I was hoping to push it a little and I've heard that 6600 GTs are pretty good with overclocking. Is overclocking going to help at all?

ECS board are also notorious for being poorly built and offering absolutly no OCing options

as for if the supply is enough, what are the amperage ratings on the rails? how much power does your pump consume?

I don't have the 6600 gt yet, it's on its way. Also, one of my 512 RAM sticks is in RMA right now, so I'm left with 512. I haven't checked the ratings on the rails (and probably won't til I get all the parts in), and I don't know what "pump" you're referring to (I just assemble and don't tinker with overclocking, so I haven't learned about tinkering with extras).

I guess you're referring to water cooling the system? I don't have that, I just use a big fan pointed straight at the innards of the computer.

btw, thanks for your input and shared knowledge, much appreciated.

Edit - I think I should lead the thread back to its original poster, since his question is going unanswered.

Check my [Postal Dude's] sig for system.... am putting a thermaltake WC kit on it... Will an Antec True430 be enough juice?

well, without knowing how much draw you are putting on the PSU (i guess the WC set is coming soon?) andthe PSU's specs, i really cant tell you if its going ot be overloaded.

actually, this is in responce to the other guy. you're fine, lol

haha yeah, i figured that as well. Just a reminder, postal dude's specs isnt the one listed. His is:

Athlon64 3200+ @ 2.3Ghz
1024 PC3200 RAM
BFG 6800GT OC @ stock
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
460W PSU
WinXP Home SP2

haha that got a little confusing...
Current on each rail is as follows....
3.3V = 28A
5V = 36A
12V = 26A
The WC Pump draws 12V, 0.4A, which adds upto just under 6 Watts
The Rad Fan draws 12V, 0.14-0.48A, again max of 6 watts

Thanks Lithium For the re-track lol

EDIT: For anyone who may be a little confused. The 460W PSU listed is a generic POS good for not alot. Going to Antec 430W is an upgrade lol

i htink that should be adequate for your setup, unless you are running an exorbinant amount of drives in it, it should power that setup well.

Lithium... just out of interest as u seem to be running almost an identicle system to me... what PSU are u using?
Lovin the use of rare words tho :p exorbinant!
Just one drive so cool

so rare that it's not in the dictionary! "exorbitant" (not exorbinant) :)

free bump

im using the antec neopower 480

although that board is actually out on RMA. i had a thermaltake PSU kill it when it surged the +5v line

the neo is terrific.
