I am going to be purchasing an Abit IC7-Max3 and I plan to go for 4ghz+ What I need to know is if the stock NB HSF is going to be sufficient or do I need to look at aftermarket solutions? And if so, what do you guys reccomend?

It has a decnt one. Reapplying yoru own paste usually improves cooling marginally (or a lot if the mffg monkeys didnt get much sleep that day). You might get limited by something else other than nb cooling anyway. I uaually reapply paste for day one then see what's what. Swiftech has one of the better nb sinks, and another good one is called the northpole I believe.

edit: I forgot your goal is a very aggressive one. One that might even require phase change on your cpu... in other words you do need to get lucky and/or swing the tides of luck in your favor. Ah well, see if luck shines upon you first. If it's that 2.6 in your sig you are going to need over 300fsb to achieve 4.0GHz.

I may be getting a 3.2 or 3.4 if I am not happy with the results from my 2.6. I have a Mach II Prommie so cooling isnt a problem.
