I purchased a Visiontek x1300 512mb agp video card.

I have not installed it yet, and am debating on whether i will or not.

My question is this a good card for a 4x agp slot?

Dell Optiplex GX260
2.4GHZ 512kb 533mhz
1gb pc2100
500gb hd
19" LCD

Should I just take it back and wait until I do a full upgrade, or will it be ok. I want to get back into BF2 and HL2. Please let me know.

The x1300 is not that great of a card. an x800GTO will perform better than that one.

You will have to make a desicion of how much this costs vs waiting to do a full upgrade. I always say that if you feel that you are making a good decision, to hell with anyone else.

That is some really good advice right there.. and it's about time, especially in this sub forum, that someone finally said it..

Now, that being said, here is my opinion, and that is all it is, my opinion. I would search for a 7600gs/gt over at NewEgg... I personally feel that they are better cards in that "class" of cards. And I'm not an NVIDIA freak, I have an X1950pro in my machine right now, I like ATI, I just think you would be happier with the 7600.. and you can find them in the same price range, sooo.... worth a look..

I agree with the rest. How much is too much is up to you and how long will it be until you upgrade to PCI-E. Here is another excellent choice. It's a X1650XT - Not the lesser Pro. It's also only a few dollars more than what you paid for the X1300 / not including rebate.

I don't know if you've already installed or returned the card, but the X1300 512MB would be a weak card for most games out today and even for some older titles.

I don't know your budget but if you can muster up more money, buy a more powerful card.

PS: What's your $$$ budget anyways?
