So my RAID-0 volume started acting funky tonight.

It kept dropping a drive which doesn't do nice things when you are playing a game that is installed on it.

I got everything important off of it.

The speed was going all over the place, even on big files when I was moving data off of it.

All that is left on it right now is my Steam folder.

I have already run chkdsk on it and rebooted multiple times and it says that there isn't anything wrong.

This pic says otherwise.

I will check that if the one drive is still functioning after I get all the data off.

A little bit ago, when I went to move more data off of it, the system locked up and I had to do a hard reboot.

The one drive in the RAID-0 array started having the click of death and the system would not even boot past the initial screen.. it would POST, and then when it normally goes to the RAID controller, it would just hang with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

I managed to get the drive working again by taking it out and orienting it differently, but who knows how long that will last. Only have about 100GB of Steam games to copy off of it before I am done.
 
Haha.. this is getting even better.

The 500GB WD Blue drive I was moving my Steam stuff to is now having problems.

Looks like it probably has a bunch of bad sectors as chkdsk is taking forever to finish scanning it.

Whatever.. going to finish copying the stuff to a different drive.
 
Well, the drive that was clicking and dropping out of the array passes all tests.

Not really surprised.
 
What kind of drive? Have had Seagates start clickin and clackin while passing SMART tests.

It is a WD Black.

I checked on the warranty, and it is one that WD sent me as a replacement for a dead WD Blue that I was given around 4 years ago.

I trust it not one bit anymore, so it is going to be put in my parts bin.

Dropping out of an array, causing the computer lockup and then to not boot. No way, no how am I going to keep using it.
