Is this an overkill...

I have an

AMD XP 2400+
MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR
512 DDR 2x256 @ 333
and stuff

Thinking of picking up an XFX 6600 GT. Would it be CPU bottlenecked. Your advise on this.

no i dont think it will bottleneck maybe a little but its worth the upgrade..

A 6600 gt is about perfect for that system. The cpu will bottleneck, but only a little bit.

I think you win the "bad advice of the day" award. If he wanted to spend more money another stick of RAM would be a better option.
Exactaly what i was thinking... Adding another 512 MB RAM stick and overclocking it would help the cause...

One more thing guys... Will a generic 300 Watts PSU run this system fine if everything runs on stock...

Maybe, but a Fortron or Sparkle PSU will serve you much better in the long run. A 350W sparkle is only like $43. Well worth it.
