Is this a good system?

first question is what will this pc used for

gaming - that video card will get you know where. any one of these cards would be great
260gtx,280gtx,4870,4850x2,4870x2

Also never heard of the power supply so you might want to upgrade that.

And last but not least might as well get 6gig or ram.

I'd DEFINATELY upgrade that power supply. It may be cheaper to just buy one on sale and install it yourself though after looking at the upgrade prices.
 
well the pc for the other guy would be a trading pc for work. As for me, it would also be for trading but gaming as well. It would have to stay on 32bit as none of our trading programs work on 64bit, so more ram wouldnt be needed. I have a 260gtx in my older pc now that I could exchange out on the new one. The 260 is the newest part in my pc now so I dont mind changing it out. But for the other guy, he wont be playing any games on it just work.

the system appears weak on every front except that it's an i7. It's new technology surrounded by budget hardware.

I would say for it if your going to use the 260gtx

Like i said before might want to buy a better psu
 
For sitting there and trading stock all day? Please, that system is more than capable. In fact, overkill. Who the fuck needs high performance ANYTHING to do business tasks like trading on a website? He's not running Crysis. That setup should be MORE than adequate for you friends needs.

No its not web based trading, we are on trading platforms and need good fast pcs. The pc Im on now lags up sometimes during fast markets. We have a good number of trading programs running at all times and for me I game a lot while trading so I need something that can keep it all running smooth and fast.
