Is this a good HDD

Hi Im just wondering if this http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=cat3&product_code=346445&Pn=320GB_Hard_Drive is a good HDD I want the 3gbps but I was reading that its a 1.5gbps I will be running windows XP and all my game's on it.. and anyone know if It will run 3GBps it say's it on the box but when I look it up it says ATA 1.5 I think it is a new HDD that has not been out that long but if anyone know's if It will be Ok and not slow compared to other HDD's like it let me know.

First off, this is a 3 gbps drive that comes jumpered to function at 1.5 gbps. Remove the jumper and it works at 3 gbps if your controller supports it.

However, if you think you'll get a speed increase by removing the jumper, think again. The drive can transfer at about 70 MB/s in my tests. 1.5 gbps with 8/10b coding means the interface can handle 150 MB/s transfers. So switching to an interface that can handle 300 MB/s won't help anything. And this is all sequential transfers - start doing random I/O and you start to see much slower speeds and the interface is in even less danger of becoming a limit.

Personally, I would stay away from CompUSA and go for an online retailer such as Newegg or ZipZoomFly. I do this just per the return policy (just in case).
