Is this a good deal?

I got a raincheck @ Fry's yesterday for an A64 mobo/processor combo:
$300 for a K8V se Deluxe with a 3000+, with the mobos coming in on Monday or Tuesday.
Is that a good deal? The reviews I've read say it's a good mobo, exc. for not great overclocking, but I'm not gonna mess around with my $200 processor anyway.
So is that a good deal? And is Fry's also doing the A64 mobo/cpu farcry deal like newegg?
Or should I get another mobo + 3200+ with a 1mb L2 cache for potentially $100 more?
I don't think I'll get a socket 939, as my budget's only ~$400 for cpu/mobo, pref. 350 or lower. BTW, I won't OC anything at all, mostly using it for gaming (duh, otherwise intel).

There's only about 5% difference between the 3000+ and 3200+, and if you're not overclocking, the un-overclockability of the K8T800 chipset shouldn't be a bother.

yup i'd say go for it but you could OC the CPU a little bit tho... 100-150-200mhz

I was at Fry's (Oregon) yesterday and saw a sign for the Far Cry/A64 deal so it should be at yours too. And as for your question, yeah that's a fair deal. It'll be one nice base for a sweet gaming rig. Now what r u going to do about that GFFX 5200?? 6800 ultra perhaps?

I was thinking about making a 2nd thread for this, because:
My parents gave me the 5200 last November for my birthday. Back then, it could run ALL games pretty much @ 1024x800 easily with details set to high.They have hinted at feeling bad if I bought a much better video card by myself (x800pro?). I'm thinking, seeing as D3 & HL2 won't probably be out till my birthday or later (Nov. 17), maybe I could last until then, with a great mobo, cpu, ram (will be getting some kingston/mushkin/corsair value series 2 x 512 soon ), and an fx 5200. I wonder how much the 5200 will limit everything else I get, & how many times better an x800 pro will be?
BTW, in 3d Marks 03, I get down to 1, yes 1, up to 2 or 3 fps in the battle scene, 1, again 1 fps in the sword/ogre scene, but 40 fps in the plane scene. F'd up if you ask me.

I imagine and of the budget cards will run HL2/Doom 3. The question is how well are they going to run them.

No one really knows. Maybe youll get 30 FPS @ 800x 600 with decent details, maybe not.
