Is this a good case for a first timer?

Those are great cases.
I really like Antec cases. I have purchased 6 of them so far.
This first computer I ever built used an Antec case.

In fact, just today I purchased the ANTEC Performance Plus Metallic Gray SOHO File Server Case without Power Supply because I like to stick my own power supply in them.

Saint, that's a good case, I have a 1040B and love the cooling but hate the noise. For about $6 more you can get this Antec case which should be a bit quieter and also has excellent cooling properties.

If I were shopping for a new case in that price range that is the one I would buy.
