Is this a correct way to do a test boot?

Have an asus p4c800 e deluxe with a 2.8c equipped with a 92mm tornado fan. I was going to do a test boot with just the motherboard, cpu, memory, and video card. Will this work and give me post if any errors in components are present?

In short, yes, you can do that. It's a good idea to install just a few parts at a time and boot the system to see if it works. That way, it's easier to know what part is bad (if any are).

As long as memory is present and a monitor and PSU attached, Yes it should at least boot to a "insert bootable disk" message or the "Floppy disks fail" message or get you started on debugging parts.

great i have my enermax 475p installed and ill be using my monitor to this cpu.
