Is this a bad idea?

Is that a recipe for disaster heat wise? I'd be using two HDD's and one SSD in the HDCS. I'm afraid the 80mm fan in the front of it blowing hot air right into the cpu cooler might not be so cool, pun intended. :D

You would probably notice a slight temperature increase but I doubt that you'll run into disastrous temp issues.

Also, I've moved this thread over to the Cases subforum for better advice.

Well if it is a problem with cooling, though I doubt it will be you can always build some sheet metal/plastic fins to place between the cpu cooler and that cooler, directing the air from the hdd/ssd up out the top fan/vent, but I think if you have enough case fans blowing air from the front to the back, you wont notice any problems to be alarmed with.

i was using a corsair a70 on a i7 950 and the temps were honorable, easily hit 100dec C. went back to a cooler master hsf a gemini 2 and

Hmm... can't be as bad as my plan to put a 2x180 radiator at the bottom of my Cosmos 1000 :D

In all seriousness, I doubt you'll see any issues. Heat from modern hard drives are relatively low. SSDs barely put out any heat. If anything, you might see slightly better temps due to increased airflow, or slightly worse temps due to slightly warmer air. The difference is probably on the area of 2 C or less.

just curious why you would want to add that to the case you all ready have 2 120mm fans blowing through your hdd area in that case i doubt the other ways gonna give you kind of temp improvement.

I scraped the idea, for now at least.
