I dealing with someone to get a 9800 se so that i can mod it, but he sais
Unfortunately, softmodding is just too unreliable for me to make it worthwhile. Sometimes itll go a full 20 minutes of intense gaming before a single artifacts appear, sometimes itll artifact the windows GUI from the start. Sometimes only certain games artifact.

...

i have tried tweaked drivers. It is a true 256bit card with 8 pipes, but its
not stable enough for me to use softmodding in games.

I'm not sure if he's saying the mod doesn't work at all (he has a physicalyl damaged card) or that his is unstable for another reason. What do you guys think? is 130$ worth it?

*shudders* I thought you were talking about the worst os ever made. Soft mods are hit and miss..

so even though the soft mod may not be sticking so well, a hard mod would have better luck?

NO.

If the soft mod has problems, then the hard mod would have the same problems, most likely.

The chances with the 9800SE is 50/50, it just means that he has a truely damaged one.

95 wasn't that bad at the time...ME is just an uber fucked up version of 98se.

98 Had major improvements to the network code of 95, and the full dos mode that ME dropped. It was stable (with a little tweaking) fast, and decently small. I loved 98.
