Is there an open source software for user portal?

Hey Guys
I am just wondering if anybody can point me to an open source software for user portal? what I mean is page would have like top national news,local news,weather, Virus/Malware alerts, Directory etc.

If you're looking to aggregate news, then consider looking at a CMS that has (or has an addon for) RSS feeds.

PTNL what you think would work for me I want something like news.google.com

Wordpress, Drupal, Orchard, etc... You may have to find a minimalist-looking skin to match your suggestion of "news.google.com", but those are just a few open source options.
