Ok iv been looking into getting a mac and the only thing stopping me is how much i play games on my laptop that has vista on it. I was just wondering if there was a way to get mac os on a pc cause i don't want to spend all that money for a mac computer. Is there a way to build a mac or do i have to go and buy one from apple. I kind of don't want to have to buy a mac and use boot camp cause im trying to save money. I just looked at apples web site and boot camp coast around 129 bucks but then id need to buy a mac compute. Is there a way at all to build a mac or put mac os on a pc. Please help me out on this one thanks :confused:
 
OS X cannot be legally installed on non-Apple hardware or run as a virtual machine, sorry:(

Also, I don't think the mods like it when people talk "hackintosh" or "frankenmac" setups on the forums, just a heads up.

Ok, so which is it? That you dont want to get a Mac because you game? Or because you dont want to pay the premium? It sounds like you dont really want a Mac.

Boot camp does not cost any extra. It comes with any new Mac- it is included in the Leopard OS. The only extra you have to pay is for an additional Windows license, but you'd have to pay that for a new PC anyway.
 
well i do want a mac for all the adobe programs cause i use them a lot in college and i like to work on pictures and make web pages and stuff and it just seams easier with a mac but i do play many games and i know that not all games are compatible with a mac. also the price is high i can build a way cheaper pc and just thought if there was a way to put mac os on it.

Not legally, no. Sorry. Check out Apple's refurb section and their student discounts, since you're in college. You might find a refurb system surprisingly affordable.

Just curious, what's the explanation behind not legally being able to use Mac OSes on non-Apple hardware?

EULA prohibits it, plus doing so requires subversion of the TPM parts of the the kernel. Depending on where you live, one or both of those are "illegal."
 
We really need a sticky. It can't be discussed here, and the question is asked all the time.
