If you hit Start/ all programs/ electronic arts/ crysis sp demo... its shows ( Play Crysis SP Demo, and Play Crysis SP Demo 64bit) is there a difference in speed and/or detail when playing the 64bit version cuz i havent notice, and im running a C2D and Windows XP x64

There is supposed to be serious performance gains in the 64 bit version, but I've heard articles saying that there is actually loss of performance for some in the 64 bit version. They were touting huge gains and such for 64 bit and I see no benefit at all.. I even get more crashes when running 64 bit...thankfully it's just the game and I get back to windows fine.

I have seen a 5FPS boost with 64 Bit Crysis, not from me but a website though. however if you have an AMD CPU, it performs worse.

yea i read that AMD 64bit processors are not truly 100% 64bit compatible unlike Intel which are...... AMD x64 are more of a blend between x86 and x64...i read that online, once i find the link again ill post it

I've played both and under vista 64bit and the gpu test runs like 1 fps faster in 32bit. Hopefully they will fix that in the real game. See specs in sig

Its pretty clear that the demo isn't using every optimization that will be in the full game. Lets just wait and see.:)

Both Intel and AMD chips are X86 based 32/64 bit combination chips, AMD actually wrote the X86 64bit extensions and Intel incorporated them into it's own chips, much like AMD Integrated the SSE/MMX extensions, they have a cross licensing agreement stemming from some litigation in the mid 90's to share new x86 tech specs to keep compatability problems to a minimum between the two camps. More recently they just agreed to another 10 yr cross licensing plan.

Recent article. http://www.news.com/2100-1040-257059.html

Intel does have a pure 64 bit chip, that being the Itanium (or so lovingly refered to as Itanic)

In my case 64bit is running about 15% faster (30 FPS in 32bit mode and 35FPS in 64bit mode) which is IMHO pretty nice improvement.

Running Vista Home Premium 64bit.

64-bit offers improved memory management, which should allow smoother/faster level loads and texture/object loads in the game as you move through it, among other various things. The more RAM you have the better it will utilize all of that RAM in 64-bit mode.
