I've wanted a 19" LCD for a while now, but every time I'm ready to buy a few certain aspects keep me away. I wanted to know if a 19" LCD exists yet that fits this criteria

Dot pitch equal to or less than .024
Without reflective surface / glass surface
DVI Input
Able to truly display 24 bit color or higher
Response rate 12ms or less
Good viewing angle, contrast, brightness ect
Excellent picture and color representation
No or low dead pixel policy
and last but not that important under $600

I know a few of these come down to opinion but aside from that I'm not asking much, 1280x1024 resolution is fine, 19" is perfect, the company that makes it isn't that important but I'd feel more comfortable if it was made from a well known company. Please help me make the switch!

I don't have a specific suggestion for you, but i can open your eyes a little to the world of LCD monitors. ALL lcd's that are in your price range are going to have a .294mm pixel pitch on them. This is just what it works out to be with a native resolution of 1280x1024. Also, i'm almost positive that you're not going to get 24-bit color AND anything less than 20ms response time. now, that's not to say that some 25ms response LCD aren't playable in games, but generally, they're gonna ghost pretty hard. I guess what i'm getting at is, you're gonna have to make a compromise between more colors, or better response time.

I can give you a monitor suggestion that takes care of everything except for two things:
- I cant give you the 12ms response time..... I can give you 20ms though.
- I cant give you .24... but I can give you .294.

It will cost a hair above $600, but if you want to go refurb... it is only 499$.

Samsung 193P.... awesome monitor, AWESOME design, backed by samsung's great customer service (I have this monitor and I had 1 dead pixel, called samsung and within 5 minutes, I had a monitor express mailed to me).

For the refurb:

I say, get the refurb.... save yourself some cash and be done with it.

This monitor has a super wide viewing angle 178x178. Fast response time... more than enough for games. Tilt, DVI, did I mention awesome design???

My samsung CRT is absolutely the best CRT I've ever used or owned so I'd definitely buy from them in the future. How badly does the 20ms ghost in games? That's pretty important to be but I mostly use my PC for work (report logs, web browsing) 70% of the time. I am a pretty hardcore gamer though. Own a 6800GT and everything. How noticeable is the ghosting? I don't think I've ever seen an example of what it looks like.

Also that refurb doesn't seem to have a warranty? I think it would be a huge mistake to buy my first LCD without a warranty. Especially if someone returned it because it had exactly 8 dead pixels or something like that.

Also, a little over $600 might be doable.
