but you can take a 63 and make it a 6400 or a 66 and make it a 6700 or 6800..
OF COURSE you might even go a little higher than that ;)

Because you could get a 33% - 50% overclock out of that thing, not just a few hundred MHz like when the Clawhammer first came out.

Do you think 33 - 50% is insignificant?

overclocking a CPU is so freaken pointless unless you are getting only 15 fps in a game and need a few extra to make the play more enjoyable(after already overclocking your GPU) or you are so impatient that you desperately need your encoding to finish a couple seconds earlier than normal. Other than that, its all about the ego.

A couple of seconds faster? Are you mathematically challenged? The days of AMD chips with 200 MHz of headroom are over.
 
DVD encoding takes a rather long time when using encoder software such as DVD Rebuilder (3-4 hrs on a P4 2.8c). Any extra speed would be valuable.

Other media CPU intensive tasks include MP3 conversion, photo editing, Divx

Bullshit. If I overclock by 50%, it means my rendering breaks are 2/3rds as long. Waiting four minutes between renders instead of six minutes is a MAJOR productivity increase. It also means I'll have to take fewer rendering breaks as the interactive preview renderer will keep up better. Having all-night renders finish in six hours instead of nine hours is also a significant improvement.

Not everyone is a gamer. Some of us have other hobbies, with greater demands for performance.

Hmm, lets see. My E6400 stock at 2.1 (25c idle/38c load) vs 3.2ghz (28c idle/41c load). Performance difference??? Yeah lets just say I'll never run at stock, ever. There is absolutely no reason to. I'm 100% stable. My bench's are right on par or better than a E6800, so I saved what $700+ on a new system?

Now is that extra ghz going to speed up your porn surfing? Ofcourse not.
Is it going to make a big difference if you got a x800 or 7600? Probably not.

But if you got high end video and ram, yes the OC is well worth it.
