viper john says there is no volt mod because its programable? does that mean u can just add it like u would for a CPU or the abit video cards??

Yep, you control the voltage to gpu and mem with software.

Overdrive does it, somewhat, but won't let you clock any higher than 575/575 with the XL, which is a problem seeing as just about all get over 600 stock air.
There's an overclocker program on DriverHeaven somewhere (lazy, use google) that changes voltages and doesn't place a limit on the frequency you can clock up to.
I'm pretty sure W1zzard is releasing/has released a new version of ATiTools to do the same thing. Not sure on that, though.

It has a default value, which you can manually adjust upward.

It starts off with a value of 1.0V for the X1800XL, I think, and allows you to adjust up to 1.4V. This part of OverDrive works fine, it's just the frequency adjustments.
