I feel the iPhone is quite the popular hipster phone... And, I know a lot of people agree. But, how many? It's interesting to note that Samsung thinks so too.

And, Urban dictionary thinks so too:

12. Hipster
An unwashed and ungroomed person who hates corporations and everything mainstream, yet still buys Apple products.
hipster 1: Ugh..I like totally hate corporations and mainstream companies who just steal from the world and stuff. I like hate mainstream!!!

hipster 2: I totally feel that. Oh hey the new iPhone 4 is out in stores!!!!!

hipster1: Oh! Em! Gee! i'm gonna call my mom and ask her for a check. Check your GPS for the nearest Apple store.....

What do you think, [H]?

I'm not a hipster and I just bought one. In fact, my mom has one, my Grandma has one, my sister has one, my sister's husband who works in the digital penetration testing field....

I never said that, if you buy an iPhone, you are a hipster. Please read elite.mafia, stay away from the guard rails...

What is in the op: "I feel the iPhone is quite the popular hipster phone"

Your bro-in-laws job sound porno-ish, lol. And I think the iPhone is hipster. But being hipster is not a crime, so don't worry about it.:)

I thought hipsters were people dressed in skinny jeans

There is quite a few demographs that wear "Skinny jeans"... A Hipster is one of them. Emo's, and Punks being others...

All of which, love apple products, ie, iPhones...

There must be a more PC term for what he does.

I have to be defensive since I just bought one. Also, I never said you said that, I said what I said and you said what you said.

This thread is going to go quite well, especially here.

heh, :p If it just gets as far as proving a VERY valid point, I'm happy with that :D

Valid because you said so, and all the apple haters on this forum are going to flock in here agreeing? I guess I carry a hipster device, which does everything I want it to without crashing while costing the same as all the other high end phones and performing equally in what matters.

Welcome to 2013. You want a hipster phone now, you go to a vintage shop and get a rotary dial phone for your landline.

In the hands of anyone under 50 , its a hipster phone. In the hands of anyone over 50 its a "gadget".

End of story.

This. My jailbroken iPhone 5 performs as well or better than the top phones on any competing platform.

don't worry, Warrior doesn't even know what a hipster is. I googled it for him but he still hasn't figured it out

iphone is the worst devicer ever!

Why do you say that? I just bought one because I was sick of all my shit breaking. Previous phone was a Captivate Glide, Screen randomly one day stopped working, got a replacement, now last week it starts restarting over and over and is basically unusable. Followed all the steps for resetting it, same stuff. Finally I go to the AT&T store and compare phones. The salesman informs me if my phone works they will give me 50% off my smartphone purchase. Anyways, I'm using the Samsung Note 2 which was one of my top candidates. I was logging into hardforum when all of a sudden it reboots and displays the Samsung logo. It was at this point I raged and decided to go with the advice of family and friends and get an iPhone, since according to them, they never break.

My hipster friends have one, and my parents have one too. So I picked the third one down. Can't make up my mind on this one...

It used to be, but now it's just lame because everyone and their grandmother has one. Kind of like Facebook.

Yes it is a hipster phone. Hipsters buy it because it is Apple, and they buy Apple products to be different. That doesn't make it any less of a phone for everyone else.

Everyone else who is not a hipster who buys the iPhone because it has a lower learning curve and/or it just simply works. iPhone's in general don't have quite as many hardware and software issues (exceptions such as iPhone4 antenna fiasco do exist), but that has everything to do with the fact that Apple controls everything about the software and limits the amount of hardware they have to program and design for.

disclaimer: this is not a pro-apple or anti-android post in anyway. just stating facts. I own exclusively Android products and refuse to buy Apple products for myself, but wholeheartedly recommend Apple products for my non tech-saavy friends and family.

Terrible poll is terrible.

I'd wager Samsung Galaxy phones are the new hipster phone.

I use a iphone because I just want a phone that works. I highly appreciate the OS and hardware because it achieves the fluidity I strive for in a phone. I like a phone that will let me seamlessly use the device without any hiccups. The apps work for me no problem, I get software updates as soon as they're available, and my carrier doesn't bloat up my phone with useless software.

I don't hate android. I don't pick a side, I've tried many androids but I come back. I'm not a apple loving hipster... I build a rig here like most other [H] users, ill customize and tinker my rig all day long, but I don't care to root my phone, because....

It's just a phone.

Not all people that buy iPhones are hipsters. Some people want a fast, reliable phone that just works. My response wasn't directed at anyone in particular, but I wish the whole apple vs. android flamefests would die out, but they'll always exist. Just like 360 vs. PS3, Xbox one vs. PS4, Ford vs. Chevy, you name it.

Ah well.

This thread isn't about defending your iPhone; and if you have to do it, you know you're hypnotized. Lol. This thread is if you think this phone is a hipster phone. Not, you are a hipster if you buy this phone.

I honestly don't care about anyone's iPhone experience. And, I know I'm not the only one. I'm just wondering if anyone feels the same as me, that the iPhone is a hipster's phone of choice. The one they beg the parents for, the phone they save up for, every upgrade, because all the other Apple hipsters do it too! :)

Remember, I live in Oregon, I know all about the hipster... And all of them have iPhones. Just sayin'.

The iPhone was a hipster phone when It was first released. I paid a kid to stand in line for me in NYC so I could be one of the first. Now EVERYONE has one. That instantly negates it being hipster. My 83 year old mother has one but my niece and nephew, 21 and 18 both got rid of theirs this summer and got Samsung. When you have something that everyone else has your not a hipster.

Hipsters buy local and American products... Apple brand fits the description. If Motorola didn't suck until Google bought them... Heck, most people recognize Android as Korean Samsung Galaxies

I have friends that buy Iphones because that's what all their friends use, basically just joining the sheep. I have friends with android phones that want something different. I have a note 2 and love it, no way I could trade it for a iPhone but I've never been one to like Apple, always thought it was over priced and I don't like their software at all.

This is a stupid poll and the op should feel bad for making it. ALL ABOARD THE HATE TRAIN.

Most of my friends in their 20s and 30s that have iPhones, you could definitely classify as a hipster. Older people that aren't techy at all seem to default to the iPhone just because it's so popular and it's all they have seen, heard of, and know. I got my mom an iPhone for Christmas last year for her first smart phone just because it's so simple and easy to use. She probably could have used Android, but all of the options and customization features would probably have confused her too much. Plus she already had an iPad, so she was already familiar with iOS.

So basically, IMO, if you're below 40 with an iPhone, most likely you are a hipster (there are always exceptions and you would be ignorant so say absolutely everyone with one is a hipster). If you're above 40 with an iPhone, then you're most likely just someone who doesn't care enough to put much thought into it and want a basic smart phone.

honestly... I feel that the iPhone and Apple products in general have become more mainstream.

I do see a lot of people getting Android, ONLY because they don't want to be 'isheep'... that's the very definition of a hipster ;) "too cool for the room" and all that

watching you fail has been enormous amount of fun though

The point still stands, and proven, there is a majority of people that think so. I see no fail...

I would say, and I feel more people would agree, hipsters arn't tech savy. And we know, Android is more for the tech savy. So, the iPhone is a hipster phone by default. Because, they made it so retards can use them. :p

The one thing you are forgeting is image, while the iphone is still king of the image I see the galaxy s series coming up close or maybe even over taking it. Android is still very easy to use, maybe not as easy as the iphone but is very simplified.

You're logic is about as sound as your ability to learn

You obviously still aren't able to understand what it means to be a hipster even though I googled the definition for.

Anybody voting yes is confused at to what a hipster is. If grandparents use it there is nothing hipster about it sorry man
