Since a day ago, my Folding client won't connect to the work server.

I get an error saying

Could not connect to work server.

Yet my internet is working fine.

I completely shut down my computer, then rebooted. I waited until this morning and tried again. I check on the Folding site for news, and didn't see any. I'm running client 5.03.

Is the current project over?

It just came back up. Weird. I just shut it down and restarted. I dunno, something got stuck, but I dunno, it's one of those weird things.

You see, it came back because I posted this thread.

Just delete it.

The system is working on a core I've never seen before, it's called Gromacs.
 
I'm not sure why, but it seems that some Stanford and DNS servers here lately, there are also some issues with Stanford and the proxy server Squid. If you ever have difficulty getting WU's, try checking this page for the status of the various work servers.

 
Hi NoGod, good to see you folding! No more via for me, broke down and got a Asus A8N-sli deluxe, not the best o/c er, but stable and fast :)
 
my xbox hasn't been able to get a WU for the past day or two. The server status page says the server I'm trying to connect(171.64.122.112) to is "full" and has a load level of 7.26. Looks like it's overloaded right now.

There's some kind of problem with server .112 that they have to fix.

I think around 15 ppD give or take. I even upgraded the ram to 128mb so it doesn't hit the swap file when I'm folding and doing something else in Linux at the same time :D
It's great to have to xbox doing something when we aren't gaming or playing internet radio on it.

How can we trouble shoot it?

Can the H gods get in touch with the university and run some tests?

C'mon H, figure this thing out. You want first place in the folding stats, so find out why the server is dropping people.

It happened to me, and a few others who responded in this thread, so it's not a joke. Something is messed up.

This is something that happens with Stanford's servers every once in a while. There isn't much we can do other than report it.

Trust me, it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

 
looks like the server is back up. Its load level is 1 again. My xbox just got a 36 pointer :D only 40 hours to go :rolleyes:

Really when a work server is down, there isn't a whole lot that can be done. If it's on Stanford's end, all that can be done is waiting for it come back up. I believe however, since which units you get are luck of the draw, that if you start and stop the service enough times, it will eventually seek out a new work server and pick something else up. You will probably want to do a search on our forums, as it has been discussed at a differen point in time.
