My current system (see sig) is about 3 weeks old and I'm already thinking of my next move !?!?

Ok, this P4 3.6 runs hot and currently has the Intel fan on it (no surprise to crap temps there really). Anyway, I try and keep up with the latest and greatest and frequently update my system. My last was a 3.2EE, IC7-MAX3, 2Gb Corsair LLPT etc etc and as an Intel man through and through I went for the new setup.

I bought my ASUS P5AD2 925X the other week and now see the ASUS P5AD2 XE version out with 1066FSB. I saw the stuff regarding unlocking the 3.6Ghz multiplier and overclocking the FSB to 1066 etc so I thought I'd give it a quick go with the Intel cooler. I saw 71 degrees C as my cpu temp so stopped the test overclock point blank.

Now I'm thinking of moving to water cooling over air so I can overclock this beast but this is where I encounter my first hurdle.

My main use for this pc is gaming but I do have P2P programs running a fair bit as well. Now I think, do I watercool my Intel setup or move completely to AMD (better gaming chip) and maybe watercool that instead?

I spent a lot on my current system and if I moved to AMD my expensive kit I've just got hold of will have to all go (sold probably at a bit of a loss in some places). If I did make the change am I going to really see the difference when using my pc through normal use and gaming at this spec? If I overclock my 3.6 with watercooling to 4Ghz plus is that going to be comparable to AMD's fastest processors? If the answer is "yes" then what will it be typically comparable to, the A64 3500, FX53, FX55 etc?

I do spend a lot on my pc's but moving from Intel (sob, sob) to AMD needs to be really worth while in terms of actual power gains to the hassle and cost's involved. My system is already high end Intel.

Any advice will be appreciated although I dont really want a AMD to Intel slanging match just the "is it worth the change at this level of kit" kind of thing.

Yes, I do have the money to make the change but I have never liked AMD. Well, at least many years ago. Now they do make great chips I'm kind of tempted.

I'm thinking, get a water cooling setup and oveclock my 3.6 to at least the speed of the fast AMD's. This way it gets me into water cooling and I still have the speed I want. But, I'll only do this if the speed is similar or better than the fastest AMD chips.

I need to know if this will bring me the gains to acheive this. My memory is more than capable of great things at overclocked speeds. It's just that if the gains from the overclock are going to still bring me well short of AMD's fast chips then maybe I should just swop it all out for new AMD stuff (I know zip about the best AMD stuff etc).

Can anyone tell me what a 4Ghz+ overclock on my chip is equivalent to in AMD chip please?
