Hi

I am thinking of bying the symantec firewall vpn 200 for home use.
I want to know if you think this is a good idea and is this made for a 19" rack? because i'm not 100% sure

thanks

Symantec bought Nexland for the technology in these devices. The Symantec VPN 200 allows multiple IPSec passthrough connections simultaneoulsy - good for small offices utilizing a software VPN client for remote connectivity to the mothership. Other than that, it is a pretty standard package. Nice 8 port switch as well. I deploy these in a number of small offices (2-4 people) and they have been a great performer.

They are NOT 19 inch rack-mountable. They are similar in size to most other DSL/Cable routers. A nice yellow color to boot! A little pricey (I think the 200 series sells for ~$360 retail) but if you need multiple IPSec passthrough connections and do not want to install a PIX or some other true firewall product, not a bad investment.

Hope this helps.
