Is SSD good for use in web server environment, especially for databases? Is it better to RAID them if use in web server?

Yes. Just back them up like you would any other system. As for reliability check out the Intel papers on this subject. They claim their SSDs are far more reliable than hard drives.

Depends where your bottlenecks are, most of the time you can assume SSDs will deliver higher IOPS than spinning platters.

You would want a supercapacitor to protect against corruption on unsafe shutdowns if your database is business or otherwise important. The new upcoming Intel G3 does this, and also other models like SF2000. Important consideration if you value data integrity.

Can you explain this further?
Will a UPS be sufficient?

i believe the enterprise grade SSD drives have on board power protection to finish the write before the data is lost? enterprise grade ssd drives also cost way more then consumer level drives.

but to answer the OP, yes, SSD is superior. Even if you can't store your entire database on the SSD, just using the SSD as a cache drive will improve performance.
