Hi!

Sorry for such a mundane question but I would love an answer from you people.
I've got:

E4500 2.2ghz
2gb of Kingston Value Ram
GeForce 8600gt

Pretty low range machine but I'd be curious to know if there's any particular bottleneck. Is the processor "too good" for the rest? Ram/GPU too poor?

Thanks in advance! :)

The GPU isn't doing you any favors, but your CPU is enough for low end gaming. Most games are primarily GPU limited. You'd see the biggest increase by upgrading your video card. 9600 GT would be a good choice, and your CPU wouldn't really hold you back much with one of those.

What's the speed of your RAM?

Did you overclock your processor?

Which motherboard are you running everything off of?

Actually, it depends on what you are doing. If you are gaming than yeah that 8600GT video card would be a first and foremost upgrade. If it's video encoding than that CPU could be overclocked to help speed up the compression time. If you are doing serious photoshop editing then it would help if you had 4gigs of RAM as oppose to 2gigs with a faster CPU. But, a video card upgrade I think is all you need. An O/C on your CPU will help also.

Ya it's mostly for gaming but I'm not too demanding on the details. The 9600gt is a blast, thanks for the tips.
