I have 2 7800 gtx in sli

i run 3d mark and it shows sli is working with a score over 11,500 (my system is all stock speeds)

all games but the source engine (no difference) show SLI is working (better performance at high settings than with 1 card)

however, when i check temps (after 3dmark or games) the first card is always in the mid 60s after i finish a game and the 2nd card stays in the low 50s. does that mean that the 2nd card is not working as hard as the other card? if so that means SLI is not at 100%, why is this so and is there a way to make the 2nd card work as hard as the first card? thanks all.

p.s. I have enabled multi-gpu rendering in the sli rendering option in advanced properties. No difference at all.

if that's 3dmark05, which i'm assuming it is, and not 03, then yes SLI is working, that's about average for two 7800gtx's

No all that means is that the 2nd card has better airflow coming to it thus causing lower temps. The first card's airflow is partially blocked off by the pcb of the 2nd card. The 2nd card doesnt have anything that restricts airflow to it so it will run cooler than card #1 .

Hope this helps bud :)

*EDIT* If you really want both cards to be at the same Temp then get an old pci card or something and stick it infront of card # 2 :p , but I highly doubt you want that heh ;) .

Most likely means that one card is getting more cool air than the other card, thus running at lower temps.

What resolution do you play games at? you will typically see the benefits from SLi on a rig like that (very powerful) @ 1600x1200 with AA and AF and such enabled. but as stated earlier, if that is a 3Dmark05 score, your machine (and SLi) is working fine.

i have a pci sound card below the 2nd card (that covers enough of the 2nd card) so....=T

I apologize for not stating 3dmark05 earlier sorry

in the display properties udner advanced near the transparency aa setting there is a setting to change the SLI rendering mode to 1 gpu or multi gpu. Does this matter at all? thanks

i am using third party drivers could this be the problem of why i can't join clubsli?

here is what they report

makes me worry if SLI is working?

"Thanks for registering for Club SLI...however, we detect that you do not currently have NVIDIA SLI enabled in your system.
This could be for one of two reasons:

You do not have NVIDIA SLI enabled currently on your PC (if so, just go to Desktop properties and enable NVIDIA SLI)

--or--

2) Your PC does not currently have NVIDIA SLI ready components.

If your PC is SLI enabled, but NVIDIA SLI is not turned on, simply enable it in your settings, and visit our site to re-register for Club SLI.

If your PC is not yet SLI certified (with an NVIDIA SLI certified motherboard and 2 NVIDIA SLI certified graphics cards), be sure to visit our partners' sites for great deals on NVIDIA SLI hardware. Then come on back and join Club SLI!"
