Is Simulated Surround a Stereo device?

I have inherited a Plantronics "N10687" "SRS Adapter-01" headset, and I can't find the drivers for it :^\.

This is a nice over the hear headset and mic, with attached (optional) USB dongle. The headphones, with standard stereo plug connects to the dongle.
ALLEGEDLY... the USB dongle provides simulated surround.

The usb dongle is automatically recognized by Windows 7 as a "2- C- Media USB Headphone Set" Stereo device.

Since I can't find any drivers for this, I'm thinking that maybe it's just intended to work this way, and the "simulated surround" is really recognized by windows as a stereo device.

The headphone jack IS only 3 wire (L/R/Ground).

What are your thoughts?

If you can find the model number, you can check the specs. With that said, if it provides "simulated" surround, then it's obviously not true surround audio. This tech has been around for ages. The stereo source is used to create the surround information. It's mediocre at best (in my opinion). If you want true surround, get a true surround headset.
