I have a system in a Antec Sonata II case powered by a Antec SmartPower 2.0 450W, For the past week the system will not power up from the front mounted switch, BUT if I unplug the power in cord or turn off the main PSU switch at the back for about 15 sec and then replug or turn the switch back on, all works well and I can power on from the front switch, Is this likely a PSU prob? and if so can I do anything other than replace PSU?

From what you said it sounds like it used to work until recently, correct me if i'm wrong. If that is the case go through and check the connections on everything in the computer, something might have come loose.

I think I have localized the problem to the power supply unit.I borrowed a spare PSU from a friend and connected it to the motherboard, now every activation from the front power button results in a POST. Interestingly with the old PSU when it is pushed a LED lights at the DIMM bank, but the system does not post. After the power switch is turned off and then back on the LED goes off and the system will then powers up normally. I don't know what that means.
