ok i got this weird problem with my pny 256 mb attache thumb drive.. using windows xp.. when i plug it in it uses the usb mass storage device driver.. but when i try to open the drive it says "please insert disc into drive H (drive letter)" this thing used to work fine but i think it used a different driver but i cant remember what its called.. problem came up after i formatted and did a fresh install.. has anyone else heard of this problem? specs are in sig.. i'm using the 3.13 nforce drivers on this pc.. and the newest ones (4.24) on my 2nd pc.. which also has an nf7-s

the only thing i can think of is that it liked my old nforce drivers that i used before.. 2.45.. but i dont wanna go backwards with my drivers.. and i always have horrible luck chaning these nforce drivers.... so i'd like to avoid it until i can rule everything else out

try finding the manufacturer, and get the drivers from them... if there are markings on the drive, start there, else load up device manager and see if it gives a product name of some sort

you also could try it on another system before you do anything drastic

edit: oops, re-read your post...my suggestion is not valid

er, bump for ya I guess :-/

Do this

Click Run
Type compmgmt.msc
Click Storage
Click Disk Management Local
Click on the right side of the Drive for your Thumb Drive
Then create Partition
Then Format

your my hero... thanks! worked perfect! i'm happy now :D :D

LOL, no problem man. Hate to see you throw away something that is still working, hehe.

I figured this out today also. I was reformating my HD and accidentally deleted the partition on my Thumb Drive. Had to do what I told you to do before I could get it up and running again.
