Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I recently posted on this forum recently about my P4 2.80A heating up to 130F while idle, and talking to a friend, he said the 2.80A Prescott CPUs are actually defective 3.0Es that can handle the slower FSB and Clock, is this true?
All processor speed rating is by silicon. that is, manufacturing imprefections, silicon impurities, ect.
so its likely that if your CPU had passed screening it could be a 3.8
do not think that your part is defective. if you think that way, then all parts are defective from lack of being super conducters at room tempature.
Thats really freaking hot dude. My a64 only runs 89F under load, and thats being overclocked 800mhz. I didn't know those prescotts ran that hot at idle, thats insanity. Maybe you should invest in better cooling? liquid nitrogen perhaps?
This is not overclocking, with the stock intel cooler, i was gonna get a zalman 7700 or something, but why bother when the heating of the cpu could be a sign of its impending death? where in that case i am sending it back to intel and getting another one and selling that and getting a 3.0e.
CPU's are made, THEN sorted into speeds, not manufactured for speeds, and then sold. Some procs run hotter than others, some run cooler, it's not necessarily a sign of impending doom. Though, send it back if you want. Your choice.
