if my computer just shuts off by itself..... no bsod or freeze.. just shuts off.. is it my psu??

shuttle sn25p
3800 x2 oced to 2.7
2 512 ballistix
7800 gt
350 W psu

uhh before i had a 3700 and this never happened, after i swapped it started doing this... but my cpu can orthos for 24 hours during my first week of having my cpu...

im jus having a hunch my psu is dying

depends, could be overheating, check your bios and see what temps you are running. also does it just shut off while its sitting there or are you playing a game or running a scan or something that utilizes your cpu. you can also check for BSOD c:\windows\minidump\
just check if you have any dmp files there. if so windbg and see what it can point to.

temps are stable at 50 ....

mini dump doesnt show any recent random restarts...

i kidna think its my ram, i took one stick out and i've been fine for aw hile

then ya it could be your ram, check your temps when its under load, and it can also be ur mobo since you are overclocking the mobo might have a problem and could mess up the ram, so try to run a memtest

nvm... not my ram . haha it seems to happen wen my cmoputer is multitasking.

like i can orthos by itself , but i cant like do some folding and then play games.... it'll jus restart

uh core 1 is liek 45 and core 2 is like 51 on load... psu is like 44 idle and 58 on load, i think thats to high...

It might be, but who knows. Here's something that happened to me recently:

1) Comp decided to turn off one day (after 36+ months of being rock solid) and the power button didn't do anything afterwards.
2) An older 300 watt smoked when connected to the comp.
3) Using a new 430 watt generic power supply and now all is well.

No power / odd loss of power after adding a new component could be the signs of a failing or underpowered PSU. Maybe the 3700 or the 3700's cooling unit draws just enough more power where under heavy load (fans are going in full blast mode) that it causes your PSU to crap out.

hey guys, i used windbg... and I get this error potining to ntoskrnl.exe

what does this mean? im kinda puzzled
