I think I'm having some problems with my graphics card overheating. I have a Gigabyte 9800 pro 128. It has never been overclocked and has been running stock since I bought it last fall. However, lately I'll be in middle of a game and everything freezes up, and this is also accompanied by a high-pitch whistle sound through my speakers. The only way to get out of it is to hard boot the computer. I've opened the case with the computer on and the fan is still working on the card. My case is fairly cooled and open.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Could something else be causing this? Should I buy a new heatsink/fan for the graphics card? Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Oh yeah, sometimes it happens right away when I start a game, and then other times I'll play for hours without it happening? Usually by the 3rd time I restart my computer it runs pretty good, at least for a while. Very strange.
