ok yesterday I applied HSF...and I put some greese between my HSF and cpu...it started to run finne but then da monitor light was flashing and it won't turn on...I took my bro's monitor and tried it on mines, and it also did not work...when I opened to check out my CPu...my cpu had some liquid on it...I dunno what is wrong with my comp...is my cpu fucked? plz reply asap

what was that liquid? was it just melted heat compund / grease? i'd try your either your chip in your brother's computer, or your brother's chip in your's... just make sure that your (or his) motherboard won't try to fry the swapped chip. sounds like your chips done, but who knows... swap em out and see if anything still works... also you might want to try swapping vid cards or ram or anything else that might have fried...

it was liquid greese....if my chip is fried, my video card will also be fried??

howver I'm not understanding still...is why does da cpu fried so easily? b4 it was ok...I applied greese b4 with the intel stock hsf...now I re-applied it into my new hsf...and it fried...how can it fry so easily? da greese can destroy a whole hardware component?

I thought intels wouldnt kill themselves as easily.. I think the greasy stuff is from the thermal paste..
Check your video card make sure its connected properly and well make sure everything is connected correctly.. it doesnt sound like you did anything that could kill anything so quickly.

Sounds like a vid problem to me too. If possible, I'd slap another card in there and see, then try another monitor.

Intel's throttle when they overheat so it's unlikely you fried it. More likely is that you either static - shocked a component or else the bios is just being fussy.

Since you're overclocked you ought to try completely draining the power in your system. Unplug the power then hit your power button and hold it a few seconds. Do that a few times then plug it back in. If that doesn't work then pop the bios battery off the motherboard and let it sit for a bit.

This is presuming that you've reconnected the fans, mounted everything correctly, and wore some kind of anti-static protection while you were probing around in there.

Thanks all...all good advices, and I would try them...

I might do a bit of cleaning first, like isopropyl alcohol cleaning the hsf, and cpu
and then I'll try power drinage thingy (dats pretty cool), then if it is still like that...do da reseting of bios...if all fails, I'll re-plug video card...
if nothing works...I will put everything in its original form and get the shop to help me fix it...

I have a few questions tho...

whats a good anti-static protection thingy to wear on da hands, or can I just ground da static charge on my hands?

the only way i could see that the grease buggerd up your chip would be if the compound was conductive. i know that there's a lot of AL in that stuff, but as far as actually conducting electricity i don't really know. if it does conduct, then if the chip got hot enough (which is a bad sign anyway dude) to melt the heat compound and trickle down to the pins, it would have been shorting out the chip untill you turned off the comp. but i'd deffinatly see if your MB will work with another cpu / vid card or vice versa... good luck though

the liquid was quite vapourize lol

dats really bad, it can go thru short gaps...and get to the pins, that is what I'm worried about...but hopefully tonite if I do some cleaning it will solve my problem

if my mobo screwed up, dat is really bad
